Consultant Nurse – UN Mission in Laayoune

About the role

The United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) is seeking a qualified Consultant Nurse to join its Medical Unit in Laayoune. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will provide clinical care to mission staff, support emergency response, and contribute to health promotion activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary clinical assessments, treatment, and referrals for patients at the mission clinic.
• Respond to emergency calls, assist Medical Officers, and provide care during medical evacuations.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as ECG, blood and urine laboratory analyses.
• Maintain immunization records, administer vaccines, and support health‑education programs.
• Enter patient data into the medical database while ensuring confidentiality.
• Prepare medical statistics, budgets, procurement documents, and other administrative reports.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rosters and collaborate with external health facilities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and a nursing diploma or registered professional nurse designation.
• Minimum five (5) years of continuous clinical nursing experience, preferably in remote or mission environments.
• Familiarity with UN administrative policies or experience in international medical settings is desirable.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; French language knowledge is a plus.
